Expansion Back On Track
King's Maths School is delighted to share that the Department for Education have given the go-ahead for our planned expansion project!
Baroness Jacqui Smith, Secretary of State for Skills, and Mr Stephen Morgan, Secretary of State for Early Years, visited the school towards the end of March to see the school, to speak to students and to share the good news. The sun even came out to keep us warm! The ministers were particularly impressed by the skills demonstrated by students in their King's Certificate collaborative research projects, undertaken by students in Year 12 with the support of KCL and industry experts.

This expansion is incredibly important for the future of KCLMS, allowing us both to increase the number of pupils at the school by 50% and to increase our in-person, free outreach provision for students and teachers in the local area.
Funded primarily by the department for education, the project involves converting the ground floor of our main building at 5 Lambeth Walk into classroom spaces. In the process, we will be creating a bespoke entrance to the school, providing additional collaborative work spaces for students to use during study periods, adding new kitchen and bathroom facilities for students, enlarging the hall and installing a new high-spec Physics lab.
The project is due to be completed in time for September 2026 opening.
