King's Maths School retains Outstanding rating from Ofsted
King’s Maths School is delighted to have been rated Outstanding again with inspectors noting that “the quality of teaching is exceptionally high” and that “students grow into confident, articulate scholars who are well prepared for demanding undergraduate courses.”
KCLMS was last inspected in 2017 when it also received an ‘Outstanding’ grading. Since then, a new, revised framework has made it even more challenging for schools to attain the top grade, making this year’s outcome particularly pleasing to staff and governors. Retaining the ‘Outstanding’ grade reflects the school’s ongoing commitment to uphold the highest standard of education and student support.
Timothy Bateup, Head Teacher of KCLMS, said: “This hugely positive report from Ofsted reflects the school’s exceptional teaching, caring ethos and ambitious vision. I am incredibly proud of all our staff and, of course, the students who contributed to this remarkable achievement. Retaining Ofsted 'Outstanding' for a second consecutive inspection over a seven-year period is testament to the incredible efforts of our wonderful school community, past and present.”
The inspectors were incredibly impressed with their visit and, following two days of rigorous investigation, acknowledged the “friendly, close-knit community” which “students value for its inclusivity”. The report noted that “students feel safe” and that “they say that the school feels like a second home.”
David Benello, Chair of the Governing Body, said: “I am delighted with this news, which recognises the hard work and dedication of all the talented teachers at King’s Maths School. This excellent result is richly deserved and validates the strong partnership with parents and carers, students, staff, governors and other partners.”
