Kathryn Boast
Co-opted Member of Outreach Committee
Kathryn is a science communicator who enjoys splitting her time between projects that bring science to people and people to science. She is the Senior Outreach Manager in the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical and Engineering Sciences at King’s College London. In this role, she oversees outreach programmes across the faculty and its five constituent departments, creating and running initiatives as well as supporting academics to develop their own outreach plans.
Before joining King’s, she worked in STEM outreach and access at the University of Oxford, most recently as the STEM Outreach Officer at Hertford College, and the Physics Access Officer for the Department of Physics. Through these roles she ran a wide variety of programmes, from a coding club for young people in Barton in east Oxford, to courses helping students prepare for the Oxford Physics Admissions Test.
As a student, Kathryn’s PhD research was on the LUX-ZEPLIN dark matter search experiment, and she studied for a Master’s in Physics and Philosophy, both at Oxford University.
