Roy Taylor
Parent Governor
Roy grew up in Sheffield before studying mathematics at the University of Oxford.
He is an actuary by profession with experience across insurance, pensions, and investments. The earlier part of his career was spent in actuarial consultancy, helping UK Pension Trustees with their funding and investment decisions, thereby supporting the security of many UK pension schemes.
From 1999-2002 Roy lived in Hong Kong, working as an actuarial consultant to a variety of local and regional retirement schemes. Much of his work involved assisting clients with the introduction of the Mandatory Provident Fund (a compulsory retirement saving scheme for the residents of Hong Kong that came into force at this time and is still operating today).
Roy recently joined the Lloyd’s of London risk team, providing second line review of the Lloyd’s capital model and aiding the oversight and security of the Lloyd’s insurance market.
Outside of work, Roy is active in Reigate Squash Club (a community sports club run entirely by volunteers with membership across all ages and an active junior section). Roy plays for the Club teams and internal leagues and is responsible for fire, health and safety and the Club’s insurance arrangements, helping to protect it for current and future generations of members. He also enjoys games of bridge, chess, and hill walking.
